Stools

BAMILEKE STOOLS

The traditional criss-cross pattern of these intricately carved stools are known as the "spider design" and are rooted deep in Cameroonian mythology. Because earth spiders live underground, they were seen as the link between the present world and the after-life and so were believed to have great wisdom.

These stools were used by Bamileke Kings during ceremonies and important meetings.

We stock a wide variety of sizes and colours - from tall skinny 30cm diameter ones (perfect for drinks tables) to the very large 100cm diameter (excellent coffee tables). Please contact Candice on sales@toguna.co.za for more information.

CAMEROON STOOLS

Like their cousins the Bamileke stools, Cameroon stools were traditionally used by Kings in Cameroon for Royal seating. We  refer to "Cameroon Stools"  as any stool from Cameroon that does not have the usual spider web design. One of our most popular style is the  "doughnut". They usually have an approximate diameter of 60cm:

Our Cameroon stools come in a variety of shapes and sizes, please contact Candice on sales@toguna.co.za for enquiries.
